Saudi Arabia Gave Millions to Sudan’s al-Bashir

Former Sudanese president, Omar al-Bashir had admitted he received millions of dollars from the Saudi royal family. This was disclosed by the prosecutor handling the case in court.

Omar al-Bashir appeared in court dressed in his iconic white robe with a matching white turban on Monday. He faces corruption charges and the murder of protesters who wanted to bring down his three decades reign.

The 75 year-old leader admitted receiving in excess of $25m from Saudi crown prince Mohammed Bin Salma. He also face charges bordering on the possession of more than $110m in various currencies stashed at his residence.

Protestors in Sudan demonstrated for several months on high cost of living culminating in the overthrow of the al-Bashir regime by the military. He was placed under house arrest and later moved to a prison. Sudan has since returned to normalcy following the successful power sharing agreement between the military and protest leaders.
