South Africa Seizes Tanzania Plane Over Country’s Debt
South Africa has grounded a plane belonging to Tanzania’s air carrier. The Air Tanzania-owned aircraft was due to fly from Johannesburg to Dar es Salaam but was seized by South African officials over debt owed.
It comes barely two months after the airliner added South Africa to its fleet of destinations. Layers and mediators have been sent to negotiate the release of the plane which has turned out to be an embarrassment to the Tanzania government.
