On Wednesday night, Jeff Koinange rallied Kenyans to raise money for Bianca Wambui, a class eight pupil battling breast cancer. Appearing on JKL Show on Citizen TV, 13 year old Bianca Wambui opened up about her tragic cancer story and all the financial challenges that her family has gone through in the wake of her diagnosis. After sharing her plight, Kenyans rallied behind Jeff Koinange and donated a whooping Sh. 2,442,500 in just one hour making the episode a historic one on JKL show.

Narrating her story, Bianca shared that coming from a humble family, her parents were strapped for cash and because of this, her diagnosis could not be properly treated. She revealed that she underwent a mastectomy while in class eight but could not continue with further treatment due to financial problems. To make matters worse, Bianca went through stigma and bullying in school because of her condition.

“Pupils at school used to run away from me because they thought I could infect them. Kids often said they did not want to play with someone who does not have one breast,” said Bianca.

When bullying became too much, Bianca was forced to drop out of school. She currently stays at home with her family in Mathare where she hopes money will be available some day to help with her treatment. Thanks to Jeff Koinange shedding light on her story, she can finally get further treatment and hopefully get back to school.
