Tragedy: 36 Year Old Woman Trampled to Death by an Elephant on Boxing Day
On Thursday 26th December, a woman was trampled to death by an elephant. The tragic incident took place in Ol Arabei forest in Baringo county.

According to Kenya Wildlife Services (KWS), the 36 year old woman had gone to look for her livestock when the incident happened. The deceased was identified as Stella Chebii.
“We are sad to report the tragic loss of a 36 year old woman who was tramped to death by an elephant in Ol Arabei forest on Thursday, December 26th, 2019.”
“Ms Stella Chebii had reportedly gone looking for her stray livestock in the forest when she was attacked by the jumbo near the border of Laikipia and Baringo counties,” read the statement by KWS.
The importance of animal control cannot be stressed enough. Three weeks ago, a man was killed by a lion that strayed from the Nairobi National Park. The head of communications at KWS has promised that animal control teams have been mobilized to monitor elephant movement in the area.
