Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s Father Rocky Johnson Dies at 75 Years

Rocky Johnson, father of wrestling superstar and actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is dead.

The 75 year old passed away on Wednesday January 15, 2020 according to news released by WWE.

The news of his death was announced by a tweet reading “Horrible news to pass along. We just learned that Rocky Johnson passed away today at the age of 75.

His accolades in this business, all the people he influenced, all his accomplishments and we are so deeply sorry and wish his family nothing but the most love at this time.”

Rocky Johnson who was born Wayde Douglas Bowles is survived by his third wife Dana Martin. He married her in 2004.

Prior to that, he was married to Dwayne’s mother from 1978 to 2003. At the moment, the cause of death has not been shared to the public.

Before The Rock became an international wresting star, his father Rocky was a professional wrestler in Canada.

In fact, Rocky Johnson was a pioneer of the sport. His career started in 1965 and he was part of the first African-American tag team champions in WWE called The Soul Patrol.

Rocky was the first African American to win the Florida and Southern Georgia heavyweight titles. He appeared in wrestling arenas all over the world.

Rocky Johnson was enshrined in the WWE Hall of Fame in 2008 and his legacy lives on with his son Dwayne Johnson.
