Nigerians Are Outraged After Chinese Security Operatives Kill Pastor

The pastor, who was living with his wife, Chinwe, and four children in China, is reported to have been killed by security operatives while trying to escape arrest for alleged visa violations.

There are heightened and widespread demands from angry Nigerians home and abroad for authorities in China to investigate the circumstances and actual reasons that led to the killing of a Nigerian pastor, Joseph Nwajueze in China.

The pastor, who was living with his wife, Chinwe, and four children in China, is reported to have been killed by security operatives while trying to escape arrest for alleged visa violations.

Reports say a security gadget believed to be a taser was allegedly used on the pastor, making him numb, leading to his eventual death.

But the chairman for the Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has dismissed the veracity of that.

In a statement made through her media aide, Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Dabiri-Erewa said there could have been no justification for the killing, calling for thorough investigations into the incident.

She condemned the “stigmatization” of Nigerians living in China, saying foreigners found guilty of the country’s laws should be prosecuted.

Pastor Joseph Nwajueze was born in Anambra in Nigeria.
