I Lost Ghc40,000 When FDA Put A Ban On Celebrities Advertising Alcohol – Koo Fori Reveals

Experienced Ghanaian Actor, Samuel Seth Kwabena Kyere Karikari famous as Koo Fori has revealed the Ban Ghana Food And Drugs Authority (FDA) placed on celebrities advertising and endorsing Alcoholic Beverages some 5 years ago cost him a huge deal.

In the studios of Hitz FM with Andy Dosty, the veteran said the ban forced him to give up a GHc 40,000 deal.

He said, “That very year when they brought the ban, we had shot an advert for Joy industries and we took almost Gh 40,000 and we have to forfeit that because of the ban. So it has really affected us.”

He however maintained that he and his colleagues will not rest until the ban has been amended.

The Food And Drugs Authority (FDA) in 2015 warned that it will fine celebrities GHc25,000 if caught advertising for alcoholic beverages. It later placed a ban on media house to stop advertising Alcoholic products during the day. This according to them will prevent celebrities from influencing under 18 from drinking.
