The total number of confirmed cases in the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has surpassed the 20 million tally.

The current death toll is pegged at 734,020 with the number of recoveries almost 13 million. This leaves almost 6.4 million active cases across the globe.

Scientists across the globe are racing against time to find a vaccine which could cure the disease as economies continue to reel under pressure due to the fallout from the disease.

The United States remains the world’s most affected country with approximately a quarter of both global cases of infections and deaths.

It is followed by Brazil with more than 3 million cases and India with over 2 million. Russia places fourth with its figure hovering around 880,000.

South Africa takes the fifth position with almost 560,000 confirmed cases. This is more than half of the total number recorded on the African continent.

New data released by the World Health Organisation indicates that over 16 million people have now been confirmed to have contracted the deadly coronavirus disease. The death toll is also nearing 650,000. Out of this almost 10 million have recovered.

The current total number of confirmed cases is 16,207,130. The death toll is pegged at 648,513. The recovered cases is 9,916,266 leaving in a 5,642,351 active cases.

The United States tops the global chart with almost a quarter of the global deaths and infections. This is followed by Brazil, India, Russia.

The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has brought the global economy to a stagnation since it began spreading to other parts of the world in early February. This disease was first discovered in Wuhan, China.

The death toll of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has killed more than 600,000 people according to new data released by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The data also pegged the total number of infections at almost 14.5 million cases. A substantial number has recovered at 8.6 million leaving a little over 5.2 million active cases.

The United States tops the chart with almost 4 million cases and a quarter of the global deaths from the deadly virus.

Brazil and India follow with two million and one million cases respectively. Russia comes fourth with 770,000 confirmed cases.

South Africa makes it to the top five with 350,000 cases and 5,000 deaths, the largest on the African continent.

The coronavirus has brought the global economy to a stagnation since it began spreading to other parts of the world in early February.

While many countries have relaxed the lockdown imposed on their territories, the race is still on to find a vaccine which could cure the disease and bring normalcy.

Nigeria has seen its coronavirus case count surge to almost 35,000 as the country recorded a new set of 595 cases. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) gave a breakdown of the country’s status in a post on its official Twitter handle.

Total confirmed cases now stands at 34,854. The number of total recoveries is 14,292. The death toll is now pegged at 769 as six people succumbed to the disease.

Nigeria is the third hardest hit country in Africa only surpassed by South Africa and Egypt. The continent’s share of the world’s almost 14 million case load is 644,000 with about 14,000 deaths.

Ghana places fourth in Africa coronavirus ranking

Ghana has seen a dramatic surge in the number of confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease. The country recorded almost 700 cases yesterday thereby pushing the total tally to 20,085.

The death toll from the disease which also went up by five currently stands at 122. There has also been an impressive recovery rate since the new modality was used.

A little under 15,000 people have recovered from the disease thus leaving 5,093 cases. The country places fourth with the highest number of cases on the African continent.

This is only surpassed by South Africa, Egypt and Nigeria. Africa has so far confirmed 432,421 cases with 10,646 deaths. A total of 207,148 people have so recovered.

The world-wide pandemic has so far reached 11.4 million cases since it was discovered in late last year. Total deaths as at today is 533,966.

The recovered number of cases is pegged at 6,456,346 thereby leaving a little over 4.4 million active cases.
