The Cyber Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service has apprehended six persons in relation to the hacking and subsequent siphoning of GH₵ 48 million from a bank’s software and onward transfers to eight people saving with different banks.

The Cyber Crime Unit which falls under the police’s Criminal Investigations Department arrested a former banker and owner of Adom Sika Savings and Loans Limited, Sam Acquah, and a software specialist, James Taylor, believed to be the architects of the whole fraud.

The four other accomplices, Hudu Abdul Mumuni, Emmanuel Adams, Moro Issah and Agbenu Febous Chrissy were nabbed when they attempted to withdraw the money at different banks.

However two other suspects of the syndicate who were identified as Boateng Mends and Pussy Cat managed to abscond before they could be apprehended.

The syndicate succeeded in infiltrating the bank’s system and transferred huge sums of money into their individual accounts at diiferent banks.

The affected bank then lodged a complaint with the police outfit which began an investigation immediately. The police informed the other banks of the illegal transfer and ordered them to refuse withdrawal.

The four men were arrested at different locations in their attempts to withdraw the illegally wired money. Sam Acquah and James Taylor were later picked up during preliminary investigation.

The police in a statement added that the suspects would be arraigned before a law court soon while efforts are made to arrest the other two who absconded.

Gleaned information from the allies of the vociferous entertainment commentator confirmed that he was arrested yesterday following his recent disparaging and derogatory comments about the Ghana Police Service.

Bulldog in an interview on OKAY FM with Halifax without mincing words; professed that his nine months old daughter is wiser than officers of the aforementioned security service.

This statement from the popular artiste manager called for his arrest and after the arrest, the police division has refused to grant bail as they prepare their portfolio to drag Bulldog to court for a hearing.

The Ghana Police has arrested a senior officer who led a group of a junior-ranked policeman and a civilian to rob a gold dealer in Obuasi, Ashanti Region.

The officer, Godwin Mensah who is part of the government’s anti-illegal mining force at Obuasi was arrested while his accomplices managed to escape.

The police in Obuasi explained that the two officers dressed in their police uniform and armed with rifles stormed the office of the gold dealer on the outskirts of Obuasi.

They accused him of trading in gold without the required authorisation and proceeded to arrest him. They seized an amount of GH₵10,000 from him.

They subsequently forced him into the taxi and headed to the Obuasi township. A distress call by the victim’s wife to the police led to them to intercept the car.

The two suspects managed to abscond leaving only the senior police officer to be arrested. An amount of GH₵5,800 was retrieved from him.

The police also added that the officer will be arraigned before a court after investigations are concluded. Efforts are also been made to arrest his accomplices.

According to the Police, Vincent Adjei who is aged 34 years, is believed to be the ring leader in the murder of Hon. Mawutor Adzahli, the Assembly Member for the Sogakope South Electoral Area.

Vincent has been remanded into prison custody by the Dabala District Court to reappear on 26 May, 2020.

The Teshie Divisional Police Command have arrested seven Nigerian who are residents of Teshie in the Greater Accra Region.

The seven Nigerian nationals who were arrested by the Teshie divisional police were arrested for violating the ban on social gathering by the president of Ghana.

The Ghanaian-based Nigerians were arrested with eight other commercial drivers for breaching the restriction order.
