More Than 200million People Worldwide Contract Malaria Every Year
“Malaria is one of the deadliest diseases that still occurs in Africa. Many, many children die of this disease. If we can introduce this vaccine we actually will prevent many of these deaths.” – Dr. Rudi Eggers, World Health Organization-Kenya
According to BBC Africa, more than 200million people worldwide contract malaria every year, therefore a pilot of the world’s first vaccine is underway in Africa. The project is led by Dr. Rudi Eggers who was interviewed on a show.

Dr. Eggers in the interview opined that the trials are being started in three countries namely Malawi, Ghana and Kenya. He voiced out that there was a process to select countries that had a well-run immunization programme, that had been part of the previous clinical trials and were able to provide the support to do the evaluation of this vaccine.

He stated that most parents in Kenya realized the benefits of vaccinations but some countries in other parts of the world are reluctant. He further advised parents to please get their young ones vaccinated.
