Sexuality Education: Video Shows Teacher Encouraging School Pupils To Mention Penis And Vagina

Ghana and the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) launched the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) programme this year in a bid to empower adolescents and young people to deepen their scope of existing activities related to sexuality.

But not many Ghanaians welcomed Ghana Education Service’s (GES) introduction of the new curriculum of CSE in public schools.

The CSE has thus become a topical issue in the country with dividing opinions whether or not pupils in all public schools in Ghana including five-year-olds, should be taught about their sexuality.

Yet, in a trending video sighted by AfricaCelebrities.com, it seems some teachers have already embraced the sex education and are teaching pupils to call a spade and spade.

When it comes to sexuality, Ghana is known to be a very conservative society in that regard. In the video, the teacher told the students that “It’s not evil. The penis and vagina are part of the body, you shouldn’t be shy to call it by its name.

“Why aren’t you shy to name other parts of the body such the eye, arm and so forth?”, she quizzed

“Boy have penis and girls have vagina”. She then instructed the student to repeat ‘penis and vagina’ after her- which they gladly did in unison.
