Grammys Award winner, Angélique Kpasseloko Hinto Hounsinou Kandjo Manta Zogbin Kidjo, who is popularly known on the international music stage as Angélique Kidjo, is a Beninese singer-songwriter, actress, and activist who was born in July 14, 1960.

Angelique Kidjo as affectionately called is noted for her diverse musical influences and creative music videos. Kidjo is fluent in five languages and it will interest you to know that she sings in all of them, and she also has her own personal language. This actually makes her a living legend.


Angelique Kidjo is credited with a lot of music and collaborations across the globe and has performed on international stages such as the UN general meeting and the World Economic Forum. Some of her songs include:  We We, Batonga, Agolo, Adouma, Ekomol, Move On Up, Eva and many more hit songs.

 In 2007, Time magazine called her “Africa’s premier diva”. The diva is married to French musician and producer Jean Hebrai and blessed with a daughter, Naima.

On Sunday January 26, 2020. Angelique Kidjo again won the notable Grammy awards after winning the Best World Music Album in 2016. She was in the same category with Burna Boy for the Best World Music Album.

Meanwhile, Burna Boy who featured Angelique Kidjo on his hit tune lined ‘Different was appreciated as Angelique Kidjo dedicated her award to him for his great work in the industry.
