They Were Killed Because Of ₦4m- Suspects Detail How University Students Were Killed

The leader of the gang of kidnappers who murdered three final year university students has detailed his motive.

Bright Iheachi said he ordered the killings because one of the victims, Nelson Nwafor absconded with his ₦4 million to Ghana after an undisclosed deal between them.


He explained that he organized for Nelson to be abducted. However, on the day of the operation, Nelson was in the company of his two friends, Fortune and Joy.

In order not to leave any trace, they took the two in addition and sent them to their den. The incident happened on the 7th of April this year.

The suspects contacted the victims’ relatives for a ransom to be paid. However they refused to released them after taking the money. Few days later they murdered the students.

Commissioner of Rivers State police, Joseph Gobum Mukan described how the leader was arrested who in turn led them to the other criminals.

Meawhile Bright Obimba, father of one of the victims, Fortune remains inconsolable. He described his only son as a generous hard-working young man.

The Nigerian president has called for a speedy trial of the suspects so that justice can be served. He also sent his condolences to the bereaved family.
