Pastor Chris Church Closed Down After Congregation Attacked Coronavirus Monitoring Team
The state government of Akwa Ibom has closed down a branch of Christ Embassy church located in the state capital, Uyo.
This was after the state’s coronavirus taskforce got attacked while on a monitoring assignment at the church.

Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, secretary to the government who also doubles as chairman of COVID-19 Management Committee, stated this in a statement to the media.
He added that the closure of the church was due to acts of lawlessness and brutalisation on the part of the pastors and congregants.
The coronavirus monitoring team was physically prevented from entering the church to perform their mandate of ensuring places of worship adhere to safety protocols.

Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem:
In response to this act of lawlessness by the Church and in order to avoid the risk of community transmission of COVID-19 in Akwa Ibom State, the Christ Embassy Church building and premises are hereby sealed off with immediate effect until further notice. The suspected Pastors and relevant members of the church will be made to face the wrath of the law.”
