The Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) have confirmed that 55 persons have tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus in Accra Girls’ Senior High School.

According to the GHS and GES, the 55 comprise both students and staff and they tested positive out of a total of 314 persons who were tested after the school reported some cases earlier.

In a a joint press statement by the GES and GHS, it was disclosed that all confirmed cases have been isolated and put on treatment while contact tracing has began to identify probable cases.

Ghana and the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) launched the Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) programme this year in a bid to empower adolescents and young people to deepen their scope of existing activities related to sexuality.

But not many Ghanaians welcomed Ghana Education Service’s (GES) introduction of the new curriculum of CSE in public schools.

The CSE has thus become a topical issue in the country with dividing opinions whether or not pupils in all public schools in Ghana including five-year-olds, should be taught about their sexuality.

Yet, in a trending video sighted by AfricaCelebrities.com, it seems some teachers have already embraced the sex education and are teaching pupils to call a spade and spade.

When it comes to sexuality, Ghana is known to be a very conservative society in that regard. In the video, the teacher told the students that “It’s not evil. The penis and vagina are part of the body, you shouldn’t be shy to call it by its name.

“Why aren’t you shy to name other parts of the body such the eye, arm and so forth?”, she quizzed

“Boy have penis and girls have vagina”. She then instructed the student to repeat ‘penis and vagina’ after her- which they gladly did in unison.

And President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, Rev. Prof. Paul Frimpong-Manso, is the latest to join critics of the CSE describing it as a “disaster.”

He criticized the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa for not being able to decipher the strategy of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) community to rob the children off their morals.

“We don’t hate gays but just like armed robbery and prostitution, their action is against the Bible and we don’t want our children to be victims,” he said.

The Pentecostal and Charismatic Council President is convinced the CSE is an LGBT strategy to capture the minds of children to accept what they believe in.

Prof. Frimpong-Manso said he has implicit faith in President Nana Akufo-Addo and “I know he will not sanction such a satanic agenda.”

Ghana and the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization launched the CSE programme this year in a bid to empower adolescents and young people to deepen their scope of existing activities to attain a CSE.

Known as the Our right, Our lives, Our Future (O³), CSE is supported by the governments of Sweden and Ireland.

Beginning next year, pupils in all public schools in Ghana including five-year-olds, will be taught CSE.

The aim, the GES maintains is empowered with values that would protect them from sexual harassment.

According to Afia, Ghanaians are hypocrites when it comes to openly having conversations about sex. She said people quickly tag her as being profane which she uses sexual connotations. However, Afia seems to be delighted that GES is introducing sex education in public schools.

“Ghana will be very interesting in the coming years. Now kids as young as 4-year-olds will be taught how to give blowjobs. If that’s the case then an international school should employ me as a sex headmistress or lecture because I can teach the kids how to give proper blowjob”, she said.
