Nigerian female disc jockey, DJ Switch has taken on the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed in a new banter on social media.

The minister has been on the other end of the rope with DJ Switch and the rest of the Nigerian youth on the other ever since the End SARS protest started.

As expected of him, he has tried everything within his powers to discredit and paint the protesters black.

DJ Switch who has being at the center of the Lekki toll gate shooting incident after she videoed the whole incident on her Instagram page has been a target for Lai Mohammed and other politicians.

She’s become a target for the politicians and their security operatives forcing her to flee Nigeria to seek asylum in Canada.

In a post on her twitter handle, DJ Switch wondered why the minister who is supposed to be informing people with accurate information could be himself, misinformed.

She accused the minister of always spreading falsehood and that, the only thing believable in Lai Mohammed is his name.

“Hw can a “minister of information” be so “misinformed”?The only believable thing about him, is his name…Lai Unfortunately sir,the truth is a very stubborn thing!

Nigeria’s minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed has reiterated Buhari’s commitment to creating jobs for the teeming unemployed youth of Nigeria.

Nigeria is caught up in a dire unemployment situation that is posing as a big threat to the government and the stability of the nation.

The millions of graduates churned out from the numerous universities yearly are sitting idle in their homes without jobs.

But speaking to newsmen on Sunday, 8th November, 2020 on the sideline of the meeting of governors, ministers, and traditional rulers of South-West states following the EndSARS protest mayhem, the minister stated that unemployment will be a thing of the past.

“It is not as if the government has not been addressing the issue of unemployment. The newly launched funds by the government were actually aimed at creating job opportunities. What the government has done so far is to provide platforms where businesses can thrive” Lai Mohammed said.

TheCable reports that Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, has asked the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC) to shut down the airing of Big Brother Naija (BBN) amid fears of a possible spread of COVID-19.

The reality Show, in its fifth season faces a possible shutdown if this directive is to be adhered to.

Acting Director-General of the NBC, Armstrong Idachaba according to the report informed senior management members of the Minister’s directive to showdown one of Nigeria’s popular Shows on cable TV.

However, according to TheCable, insiders said that the NBC management did not approve of this shut down move, with some of them saying there was no basis for it.

A director is said to have reminded the meeting that NBC had already sought explanation from Multichoice on a possible violation of COVID-19 protocols with the airing of the show.

The letter was sent on July 1, before the show began.

MultiChoice replied with detailed explanations on measures taken in collaboration with the Lagos state government, whose agency, Lagos State Safety Commission, gave the green light for the show.

Also, MultiChoice said in the letter that housemates had been screened prior to the show and that the BBN House had been decontaminated and adapted to ensure sufficient physical distancing, in addition to eliminating the use of live audience.

All inmates went through a mandatory two-week isolation during which COVID-19 symptoms would have manifested if they had the disease.

Meanwhile, Idachaba, in his response to TheCable, simply said BBN will not be taken off air but did not provide any further information.

A freelance journalist has been locked up in a cell for almost two weeks on the orders of Minister of Information and Culture.

Rotimi Jolayemi, popularly known as Oba Akewi, doubles as the vice-chairman of Freelance and Independent Radio Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Osun State branch.

Olu Olugbade, the FIBAN chairman who confirmed the incident, said the journalist had recorded an eight-minute audio poem criticising the minister, Lai Mohammed and released via WhatsApp.

The audio went viral and the journalist went into hiding. The police picked up his wife and two brothers for questioning. This forced him to turn himself in.

The Committee for the Defence of Human Rights has also condemned his continuous illegal detention. It averred that it was against the rights of the journalist to be detained for expressing his views.

The group has therefore called for the immediate release of the journalist who has still not been charged with any offence at a court of law.

The spokesperson of the Minister of Information has meanwhile denied his boss is the mastermind of the detention.

He called on those making the allegations to channel their grievances to the proper quarters and leave the Minister alone to concentrate on his work.
