Elba exhibited a huge sense of appreciation as he said that the greatest honor his African country could ever give him is to grant him such right in his homeland. Elba, who’s mother also happens to be a Ghanaian was in Ghana for the “2019, Year of Return”.

Christopher Brian Bridges who is known in the entertainment circle as Ludacris is an American-Gabonese is a gifted musician and an actor whose great work has grace with a Grammy Award. Ludacris after his visit to Ghana’s Year of Return also traveled to his homeland, Gabon with his family as their Gabonese citizen was approved.

The American-Gabonese actor, entrepreneur, counselor and movie producer; Samuel Leroy Jackson has won critical acclaim and numerous accolades and awards, and is the highest-grossing actor of all time. The star who has an African descent got his Gabon citizenship after he visited the African country as he was honored by President Ali Bongo.

American hip-hop artist, Christopher Brian Bridges, known worldwide as Ludacris, has lauded African women. The rapper is in Ghana for the ‘Year of Return’ program, and it appears the African atmosphere has taken a humongous effect on him.

The ‘Year of Return’ initiative is to mark the 400-years since the first slaves from Africa landed in Jamestown, Virginia, and also targets the African–Americans and other people of colour living in the diaspora who yearn to remember their roots.

Ludacris has already been to the Elmina Castle and other famed tourist sites across the country.

Consequently, the government of Ghana earmarked the year as ‘The Year of Return’ for people of Ghanaian, and indeed African, heritage to ‘return home’.

Ghana’s Year of Return agenda continues to be on course as many European and especially African-American celebrities, and global icons who trace their roots to Africa or affiliate themselves to Africa troop to the country.

The list of notable persons who have visited Ghana to mark the Year of Return is countless.

It was only a few weeks ago that American rapper and songwriter, Cardi B was in Ghana for a show. Rapper T.I and his wife were also in the country that same week. Steve Harvey has been to Ghana and many others.

The latest to join the list of celebrities to visit Ghana is American rapper and actor Ludacris.

Ludacris marked his year of return trip to Ghana by visiting the Cape Coast castle where most of the slaves from Ghana where shipped to the Americas to work on cotton and sugarcane plantations.

After his visit, Ludacris made a very power statement on social media which alludes to the fact that there is still a lot hope for Africans.

He said: “Our ancestors never gave up Faith. You can never imprison our minds nor our spirits.”
