American Rapper Ludacris In Ghana For Year Of Return, Says ‘The Chains Have Been Broken’

The year 2019 marks exactly 400 years since the first black slaves landed in Jamestown Virginia in the U.S.

Consequently, the government of Ghana earmarked the year as ‘The Year of Return’ for people of Ghanaian, and indeed African, heritage to ‘return home’.

Ghana’s Year of Return agenda continues to be on course as many European and especially African-American celebrities, and global icons who trace their roots to Africa or affiliate themselves to Africa troop to the country.

The list of notable persons who have visited Ghana to mark the Year of Return is countless.

It was only a few weeks ago that American rapper and songwriter, Cardi B was in Ghana for a show. Rapper T.I and his wife were also in the country that same week. Steve Harvey has been to Ghana and many others.

The latest to join the list of celebrities to visit Ghana is American rapper and actor Ludacris.

Ludacris marked his year of return trip to Ghana by visiting the Cape Coast castle where most of the slaves from Ghana where shipped to the Americas to work on cotton and sugarcane plantations.

After his visit, Ludacris made a very power statement on social media which alludes to the fact that there is still a lot hope for Africans.

He said: “Our ancestors never gave up Faith. You can never imprison our minds nor our spirits.”

“They empowered me to Return. I have completed the cycle and I’m beginning a new Cycle. The Chains have been Broken and the indomitable resilience of African People Triumphs.”
