Tragedy struck when a Pakistan International Airlines Airbus A320 passenger plane flying from Lahore crashed in a Karachi neighbourhood.

Flight PK8303 which was carrying 91 passengers and eight crew, crashed while approaching the Jinnah International Airport.

The health commissioner in charge of the province said at least 11 corpses have been pulled from the wrecked plane.

Thick black smoke bellowed across the area. Video footage showed emergency workers looking for survivors in the plane crash which has destroyed a number of houses.

The cause of the crash is yet to be confirmed. However, in a previous contact the pilot had told the traffic control that the plane was experiencing technical difficulties.

An eyewitness narrated that he had heard a massive bang and went outside his home to check it out. He said he counted about four houses that have been destroyed.

A state of emergency has been imposed on all of the hospitals in the city of Karachi by the chief minister of the province where the plane crashed.

The tragedy comes as the south Asian country resumes commercial flight after the coronavirus lockdown was relaxed.

Many Pakistanis are travelling to their hometowns to join their families and celebrate the Ramadan holidays to mark the end of fasting on the Muslim calendar.

The mass deportation of Nigerians living abroad has taken a new turn as a Nigerian man bemoans his fate and those of others in Pakistan.

In the video, the man laments that he is being deported from Pakistan because of his Igbo origin. Though he spoke a little English, he also changed to his Igbo dialect to clarify the issue, stating that he had committed no crime.

He further showed some other Nigerian men who were also waiting to have their documents checked by an unsmiling airport attendant.

Chairman of Association Of Licenced Private Security Practitioners Of Nigeria (ALPSPN) Plateau chapter, Chief Edinen Usoroh, disclosed this at a one-day counter-terrorism awareness seminar held today in Jos.

“Nigeria remains the 3rd most terrorised nation in the world, according to the global terrorism index report of 2018… The five most terrorised countries in the world are Iran, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Syria and Pakistan”, he announced.

Mr. Usoroh named Boko Haram as the deadliest terrorist group in Nigeria and expressed dissatisfaction with the inability of Nigerian security agencies to put an end to their reign once and for all. This he said, was as a result of “insider threat”.

“The moment a terrorist establishes a functional contact with an insider, that organisation becomes extremely vulnerable to an attack,” he said.
