The Gaming Commission of Ghana has taken measures to ban celebrities from advertising for betting companies in the country.

The commission released a press statement enumerating the reasons why the action was taken.

Part of the statement read; vii. Operators shall not use celebrities in their advertisements to entice the general public to gamble.

In light of the above action, many Ghanaian celebrities have teamed up to speak against the commission. Some even threatened to sue the government agency for taking food from their table.

Charles Nii Armah Mensah aka Shatta Wale spoke in a video saying he was confused as to why such action is being taken by the commission.

He also said the ban, unlike FDA banning celebrities from advertising alcoholic products, will affect everyone in the entertainment industry.

Wendy Shay, who has been vocal since FDA ban them from advertising alcoholic products, called for all celebs in the country to come together and fight the monopoly system that is squeezing the life from their industry.

The 2020 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards came off successfully on Friday and Saturday night, August 29th with all the glam and controversies.

1. Kelvyn Boy

At the red carpet of the event, the sensational singer echoed that the Afrobeat Song of the year award needs to be handed to him with ease because he has worked of it.

Unfortunately, he lost it to Dope Nation and he was seen storming out of the event center while the show was not over.

2. Wendy Shay

The self tooted ‘Queen of Ghana Music’ Wedny Shay went home with ZERO awards on the night despite her rant and bragging on radio interviews.

The artiste was noted for; High Life Artiste of the year, Song Writer of the Year, Male Vocalist of the year, Afrobeat Song of the year and three others, yet he won none.

King Promise has been quoted on many platforms to have said he does music for his fans and not for awards. He missed out big time last year and this year to.

This does not mean the mentioned acts do not churn out good music. Least i forget, Gasmilla won an Award after so many years without nomination.

On Wednesday June 24, about 10:40pm, parts of Greater Accra, Central Region and their surrounding areas in Ghana experienced an earth tremor.

The scary event which recorded a magnitude of 4.0 with a 10.0-kilometre depth occurred about three times in the space of 10 minuets.

Many who are experiencing such for the first time attributed it to the end of the world and judgement day and Wendy Shay say has laid her sins on the alter of God seeking forgiveness.

She asked on twitter if her fans also felt the earth shake then proceeded to ask forgiveness of sin and made a promise not to sing worldly songs again.

Celebrated Ghanaian actress, Ama K Abebrese has expressed her displeasure at the conduct of Accra-based Accra FM’s DJ Romeo over what she describes as unprofessional conduct.

This follows After KiDi and Wendy Shay’s fate of embarrassment they suffered at Accra FM studios went viral.

It could be recalled that Nana Romeo was in the news a few weeks back for refusing to carry on with an interview with KiDi with the explanation that he arrived 15 minutes later than scheduled.

Yesterday, a DJ at the said FM station; DJ Romeo questioned Wendy Shay as he quizzed the music diva of sleeping her manager who goes by the name ‘Bullet’.

Angry Wendy Shay left the studios as she expressed her displeasure for such immature questioning.

Ama K. Abebrese has urged all celebrities to boycott the station as she describes their conduct as unprofessional with a lengthy message.

Ama K Abebrese wrote:

“He is very unprofessional. All musicians, actors, artists, etc should decline to go to that station for interviews. Then as media organizations, they will know their value. We need each other but not if the media organization allows hosts to behave in such a manner.
“Does that Accra FM presenter get paid to intimidate/be rude to guests? Or he just wants a trend? Very unprofessional and totally unacceptable. As a host, you can ask questions, however, it doesn’t mean a guest has to answer silly questions. Mutual Respect is a must. Utter Nonsense”
