Ghanaian musician-turned social commentator and fonder of The People’s Project (TPP), Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus has dropped a bombshell in an online scuffle with Nana Hesse Ogyiri.

Nana Hesse Ogyiri is a politician and a staunch member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), currently serving as an officer at the Presidency.

No one knows what had initially transpired between A Plus and Nana Hesse, but the latter made a post on social media informing A Plus that his checks reveal infected victims of COVID-19 are not treated at witch camps.

In response to Nana Hesse’s post, A Plus made some serious revelations and allegation against him. Among other things, A Plus accused Nana Hesse Ogyiri of leaking information to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). Below is what A Plus wrote:

Was I the one who released that tape? No!! You told me Charles did. I still have your voice recording. You tell people everything that happens at the presidency but you’ll come on Facebook and act gangsters. Continue fooling.

The group which is non-partisan is spearheaded by Ghanaian musician,  Kwame Asare Obeng also known as Kwame A Plus. Kwame A-Plus was a fanatic of the ruling New Patriotic Party but for reasons best known to him which of course bothers on the alleged poor administration of this country by many Ghanaians including himself, has decided to lead the TPP into achieving a better and corruption-free Ghana.

A quick search of the TPP shows ‘This is what The People’s Project (TPP), an online and offline political and social assemblage, stands to do. The People’s Project is stationed to transcend all styles of individual and party interests—taking an only interest in what’s great for Ghana’.

The group has acquired an office space that was announced by A-Plus, on his instagram page. Happening in an election year, it is expected that the group starts full operations into helping well-meaning Ghanaians in deciding who to choose as their next leader, either to maintain the New Patriotic Party, re-elect the National Democratic Congress with the leadership of John Dramani Mahama or any other political party.

The leader of the group, Kwame A-Plus himself is alleged to be without blemish after his name popped up during the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited(BOST) brouhaha some years ago.

Only a few days ago, Ghanaian actor-cum-musician, Kwadwo Nkansah, known in showbiz as Lilwin came under fire for his video on the ‘Atta Adwoa’ challenge which had become an internet sensation and social media craze since the beginning of the year.

As you may be aware, ‘Atta Adwoa’ is a hit song by fast rising Ghanaian artistes Bosom PYung which was released early January this year.

Social media and internet users immediately started the ‘Atta Adwoa’ challenge mimicking Bosom’s repertoire in the music video. Since then many others, including some celebrities, have participated in the said challenge.

Lilwin is the latest among those celebrities to join the ‘Atta Adwoa’ challenge. Ordinarily, this wouldn’t have been an issue. However, it came to light that in Lilwin’s video of the ‘Atta Adwoa’ challenge, the logo of ABSA- the new name of Barclays Bank- was used and advertised in the video without getting consent from the original artiste.

Thus, the issue became a matter of copyright violation. So far, Bosom PYung, Barclays Bank and a few others (including A Plus) who have stakes in the matter have made statements concerning the matter, except Lilwin.

So, today the management of Wezzy Empire, that is Lilwin’s management, released a statement to the effect of offering an explanation to what happened and as well, render an apology to all parties involved.

The full statement can be found at the end of this article. However, it must be pointed out that the explanation given by Lilwin and his management is somewhat repugnant and lacks credibility.

First, the statement makes claim that they [the management of Wezzy Empire] could not believe their editors placed the ABSA logo in the video but later confirmed it was a mistake three hours after its release.

A mistake? A deliberate mistake would be a better description for what happened, not merely a mistake.

It beats imagination that not any logo but that of ABSA was put on the video. How that happened mistakenly is a question for the gods.

Portion of the statement reads as follows:

We were mortified when social media commentators pointed out that #attaaadwoachallenge song was violated by our Artist, and shocked to see that it happened on our watch.

At first, we couldn’t believe our editing bench placed the Logo of an International Bank Barclays/Absa, but upon checking our records we confirmed that the mistake were made.

We indeed reviewed and disapproved the video in question after 3 hours post on our social media by our PRO. The actor and management have no memory of why our editing bench would have thought it was OK to use this material without permission.

In their attempt to push the blame on their editing team, they claim Lilwin and the management were unaware of the motivation of the editors to put the logo without permission, forgetting that even after the video was complete it was shared on the official social media platforms of the actor.

The question is didn’t Lilwin and his management see the video before it was released? Didn’t anyone in the management team OK the video before its release? Or the editors are also to be blamed for the video coming out in public after putting the ABSA logo on the video?

Again, their assertion that they reviewed the video and disapproved 3 hours after its release is an insult to the intelligence of many. This should have been done (and indeed necessary) before releasing the video to the public.

In any case, they have rendered an apology to the artiste involved- Bosom PYung and vowed not to repeat the ‘mistake’ again.

Ghanaian musician-now-turned-social commentator and founder of The People’s Project (TPP), Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A-Plus, has predicted the future of cursing in Ghana.

He made the comments after Ghanaian musician, Ama Afriyie whose stage is Ama Rasta, rained curses on the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) for failing to pay her royalties due her.

The reports which made round last Wednesday indicate that Ama Rasta was furious about not receiving her royalties and out of anger called on the gods to deal with anyone who is remotely responsible for her unpaid money.

So A-Plus posted the video of Ama Rasta in her act of cursing and made the following comments:

Ghana has really developed ooo. These days there is a journalist who covers duabɔ [curses] and an interview section after the duabɔ. Woowolo!!! Everything go hi-tech.

Based on the fact there was a journalist present at the time Ama Rasta was pronouncing the curses, A-Plus made some hilarious prediction of the future of cursing in Ghana.

He said: “Soon we will develop a mobile app for duabɔ. Just download and install. Choose shrine, (Antoa, Nogokpo, Akonori etc.).

“Enter offenders name. Enter offence. Choose type of punishment (kill, mad, diarrhea 15X daily, itchy skin, impotent etc)

Kwame Asare Obeng alias A Plus, the Ghanaian musician-turned-social commentator and founder of The People’s Project (TPP), has given a damning verdict on the nation’s broadcasters Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

According to A Plus, the institution GBC is a useless entity and it would be better if it was converted to a zoo.

Reacting to rumors that he was the topic of discussion on Uniq Fm- an Accra based radio station which is a subsidiary of GBC, A Plus said in a Facebook post that:

“I was reliably informed that Uniiq fm (GBC fm) used their morning show to insult me for close to an hour this morning because I said government should convert that facility into a zoo.”

“The fact of the matter is that, management of GBC is very useless and a waste of taxpayers money. GBC management and staff are the reason why people don’t go to school.”

“Most of you there have degrees but can’t do what UTV or Adom TV with less degree holders are doing. Why will people be encouraged to go to school? GBC is a bad influence on the youth.”

“Which competent management will show telenovelas on our national TV at prime time? You have caused financial loss to the state and must be ashamed of yourself.”

“GBC is big enough for a forest reserve. It is better to have zebra, elephant, monkey, kwaakwaadobi, opro, dabodabo and hippopotamus roaming there for tourist to watch and pay than useless educated illiterates roaming there and wasting taxpayer’s money.“
